Everyone who more or less followed how events developed around Prince Harry and his chosen one Meghan Markle will probably consider that the main characters of the series did not say anything that would no longer be known. Of course, the story of Meghan’s miscarriage due to the stress of tabloid bullying added a lot of drama to the action. But she also left questions in the spirit of “why does a lady in position read tabloids, where, in her opinion, deliberate lies are written?”

Otherwise, Megan and Harry only added color to an already familiar picture. And the picture is something like this: after the wedding, Megan suddenly showed more interest than Kate, the wife of Prince William, so they decided to rein in the young lady at Buckingham Palace (fortunately, the main tabloids in exchange for limited access to the life of the royal family are always ready to support her general line) , and when Harry began to resent loudly, announced his intention to protect his wife and generally stay away from the titled relatives, the couple were completely exposed as ungrateful brawlers and manipulators.

It is quite possible that this was the case in general terms. But the main problem of this series lies precisely in the fact that the authors have no intention of telling how it really was in detail. In order to do this, the opinions of different sides of the conflict are required, but in the latest documentary fashion, the creators of Harry and Megan did not take care of this. Of course, it was immediately announced that the royal family refused to comment, but the press service of the palace noted the absence of any requests in this regard.

Creating an objective picture of events is troublesome and not always rated. And Megan, as an actress and producer, apparently understood this well. In one of the episodes, she talks about the advice of one friend to take more pictures of her life. It is possible that the spouses themselves guessed what asset they had in their hands, when they suddenly turned from a routine palace couple into a kind of Bonnie and Clyde. Why is objectivity needed if there is a story about a prince and his Cinderella fleeing a stuffy palace?

A trial balloon for Megan and Harry was last year’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. The resonance that accompanied the broadcast became a clear sign that the story is not over and that we need to think about a multi-episode continuation of what Oprah told. Rumors of an impressive deal with streaming platforms become very close to the truth after the release of Harry and Meghan, because no matter how much they were paid, they worked for it.

Megan did her best. Laughter, tears, suffering, determination – everything is played out for five points. Even if the representatives of the royal family appeared in the frame, they would not have a single chance to outshine the actress.

But did she manage to move the audience to pity? There are some doubts here. When Megan says that she was fed to the wolves, referring to the tabloids with their merciless headlines, then in the winter of 2022 this problem seems to the layman somehow far-fetched. And in general, all of Megan’s grievances most likely stem from the fact that her liberal feminist views received an icy reception in a territory where it is customary to keep quiet and follow the rules.

Perhaps it is in social inequality that the main threat to the marriage of Meghan and Harry lies. The episode in which Megan is indignant at the need to curtsy in the presence of her majesty and shows a caricature of the old high-society gesture is very indicative. Harry at this moment looks at her with obvious embarrassment, because for him curtsy is the same part of life as for Megan – widespread cries for equal rights.

However, it is too early for them to get divorced. Perhaps Britain, where complaints from the royals are considered ridiculous and inappropriate, has closed to them, but in a world devoid of old prejudices and hungry for new revelations, they will be very welcome.
