The Security Council of Armenia announced the achievement of a truce with Azerbaijan

Armenia managed to reach an agreement with Azerbaijan on a ceasefire regime on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said on the air of the Public Television.

“Let’s hope that Azerbaijan will abide by the ceasefire,” he said (cit. by news.am). Grigoryan also specified that the agreement was reached with the assistance of the international community.

September 14 Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry informedthat Baku unilaterally offered Armenia a humanitarian ceasefire. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that it is not in the interests of Azerbaijan to escalate tension on the border with Armenia, as well as to destabilize the situation.

The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan escalated on the night of September 13 – the parties accused each other of aggressive actions. For the first time since the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, in the fall of 2020, shelling was reported outside the territory of the unrecognized republic.

After night shelling on the morning of September 13, Yerevan and Baku, through the mediation of Moscow, agreed on a ceasefire, but the next morning the shelling resumed. By data on the Armenian side, 105 people died on the side of Yerevan. According to the Azerbaijani department, the death toll from Baku was 50.
