The signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan is possible already this year, Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, said. writes Interfax.
“Very intensive negotiations are being held between Armenia and Azerbaijan. If this intensity continues and there is strong assistance from the international community, then there is an opportunity to sign a peace agreement by the end of the year,” the Secretary said.
He added that this is “a good opportunity to move the peace agenda forward” and also noted that the international community’s contribution to this agenda is “very important.”
On June 1 and 2, a summit of the European Political Community was held in Chisinau, where, as wrote Reuters, Yerevan and Baku could sign a peace agreement. The peace treaty was not signed, but Grigoryan noted that Yerevan positively assessed the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
