Palau-flagged cargo ship Aroyat loaded with Ukrainian grain earlier it turned out from the port of Chernomorsk. Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Alexander Kubrakov reported on social networks on September 22 that Aroyat was loaded with 17,600 tons of wheat for Egypt.
The dry cargo ship became the second ship that used the temporary corridor at the entrance to the Black Sea port to export agricultural products to Asian countries, the Ukrainian minister noted. Prior to this, the ship Resilient Africa with 3,000 tons of wheat left the port and headed towards the Bosphorus.
Following the end of the grain deal, the Ukrainian Navy on August 10 announced temporary corridors in the Black Sea for merchant ships heading to or from Ukrainian ports. In August, Ukraine reported that two vessels, Primus and Joseph Schulte, had left the port of Odessa on Ukrainian routes and had been there since February 2022.
The grain deal was concluded on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey and the UN, on the one hand, and representatives of Russia and Ukraine, on the other. It includes two agreements between Moscow and Kiev. The first is for the export of Ukrainian grain from three ports, including Odessa, Yuzhny and Chernomorsk, the second is for assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers.
On July 17, 2023, Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Initiative, citing failure to comply with agreements regarding the lifting of restrictions on the supply of Russian products. In this regard, on July 19, the Ministry of Defense declared all ships heading to Ukrainian ports as potential military targets. Ukraine also announced the introduction of similar measures.
