Turkey’s Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) has announced the second round of presidential elections, which will take place on May 28.
According to the results of the first round, the current President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, won 49.51% of the vote. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 44.88% of the vote.
The second round was called because no candidate received more than 50% of the vote. According to the head of the commission, Ahmet Yener, the second round of voting is taking place for the first time in Turkey’s history.
In total, 53.9 million people took part in the elections. Turnout was 88.84%. The first round of the presidential and parliamentary elections took place on May 14, voting ended at 17:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time).
