Putin discussed relations with the CIS countries with the Security Council – Kommersant

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with members of the Security Council. The event discussed the interaction of the Russian Federation with the CIS countries.

“Let’s talk about this today, about what can and should be done additionally in order to achieve the best results in our joint work for the benefit of the development of our states,” the head of state said at the beginning of the operational meeting (quote from site Kremlin).

Putin recalled that leaders of a number of CIS states took part in the events on May 9 in Moscow (President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ). The President noted that Russia and the former republics of the USSR have “a whole set of significant competitive advantages” for positive results in development “in very many areas”, including the sphere of economic activity and the economy.

The meeting was attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, Presidential Administration Chief Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Minister Defense of Russia Sergei Shoigu, Director of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, Special Representative of the President for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.

As the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov reported during the conference call, Vladimir Putin changed the schedule of meetings of the Security Council and decided to hold it on Monday instead of Friday.
