The second employee of the Ozon distribution center, who was diagnosed with meningococcal infection, died in Yekaterinburg. Information about this “Kommersant” was confirmed by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region, noting that the cause of death is still being established.
Previously became known about the death of another Ozon employee who was also diagnosed with the infection. The Ural Mash Telegram channel reported that it was a 21-year-old man. In turn, the Telegram channel Base wrote that after contracting meningococcal infection, a 21-year-old girl and a 46-year-old man died. They allegedly had a fulminant course of the infection, and they died in less than a day. Another seven workers were hospitalized.
The Rospotrebnadzor confirmed the outbreak of meningococcal infection among employees of the distribution center the day before. As of yesterday, July 5, there were seven cases in total. At the same time, departmental representatives notedthat it is impossible to get infected through parcels. The agency explained that the causative agent of meningococcal disease, Neisseria meningitides, is not resistant.
At the Ozon warehouse, according to the company’s press service, anti-epidemic measures have been strengthened. Now all surfaces with which the sick people could come into contact are being processed, and the air is being disinfected. A mask regime has been introduced at the center, the temperature of employees is measured at the entrance, and surfaces are treated with an antiseptic.
