Scientist Maslennikov: Discharge of water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant does not threaten Russia
The discharge of water accumulated at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant in Japan will not affect Russia, suggested Sergei Maslennikov from the National Research Center for Marine Biology. A.V. Zhirmunsky Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Maslennikov said that the system of currents is not directed towards Russia, but towards the United States, and, moreover, Japan “is in a very deep place.”
Maslennikov also mentioned that water, according to Japan, is diluted to a level below the background radiation. This is a simple and already applied technology, the Russian scientist said. He also stated that the release of water does not threaten marine organisms.
