The Scandinavian countries opposed the admission of Russian athletes to tournaments

The Olympic committees of the Scandinavian and Northern European countries issued a joint appeal in which they called for not allowing athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus to participate in international competitions. The statement was published on the official website of the Swedish Olympic Committee.
The text of the appeal was signed by the National Olympic Committees of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Greenland, as well as the Faroe and Aland Islands.
“We firmly stand on our position: do not open participation in international competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes,” the joint statement says. They substantiated their position by the fact that “the situation in Ukraine has not changed.
The text of the letter was sent to a number of international sports organizations, starting with the International Olympic Committee.
