SBU Colonel Kostenko: Ukrainian defense turned out to be weaker than Russian
The defense of the Ukrainian army turned out to be much weaker than the Russian one, since it is successfully pushed through and destroyed by Russian troops, unlike the defensive structures of the Russian Armed Forces. This statement was made by the Secretary of the Ukrainian Parliament Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, SBU Colonel Roman Kostenko.
He emphasized that Kyiv has been on the defensive since last year, so all the calls from Western countries to abandon offensive actions are not new.
“If we take a global, strategic view of the entire front, a thousand kilometers, then we have basically been on the defensive since last year,” Kostenko said on air at the Ukrainian telethon.
In addition, he agreed with the statements of US Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan on the issue that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to “dig in” and not carry out any offensive actions at all. At the same time, he emphasized that it is necessary to strengthen the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since Russia has a great advantage in this. As an example, he cited the Zaporozhye direction, where Ukrainian troops were unable to break through the defenses of the Russian Armed Forces for more than six months.
Kostenko also admitted that due to poor organization of the defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had to retreat.
