The Saratov region topped the anti-rating for the spread of enterovirus

The Saratov region has become the most unfavorable region in terms of the spread of enterovirus infection (EVI), which causes meningitis. About it reported in the press service of Rospotrebnadzor with reference to the meeting of the head of the department Anna Popova with the heads of territorial divisions. According to the agency, mass cases of EVI infection are also observed in the Sverdlovsk region, the Khabarovsk Territory, Sevastopol and Moscow.

In the release of Rospotrebnadzor, the number of cases in the first seven months of this year is 101. Last August alone, the number of confirmed cases tripled to 430, the department’s regional office said. Most of the patients are of primary school and preschool age. Treatment in the regional infectious diseases hospital, as of August 28, are 270 people – 243 children and 27 adults, Kommersant was told in the regional Ministry of Health.

The head of the federal department, Anna Popova, instructed regions with a difficult situation to take control of preschool and educational institutions, in particular, monitor the quality of “morning filters”, “separate” large children’s groups, and limit mass events.

In order to prevent the spread of EVI, the authorities of the region have closed swimming pools since the beginning of August, the restriction is valid until the end of September. The admission of underage fans to sports competitions is limited. Sports and educational organizations have canceled mass events.
