The Russians experienced the hottest August for the entire period of observations. August of this year can be called the warmest in Russia over the past 132 years. The fact that the citizens of the Russian Federation found the hottest last month of summer in the entire history of observations, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the country’s Hydrometeorological Center.
“August in 2023 in Russia turned out to be the warmest on record,” Vilfand said.
It is known that systematic observations of the weather in the Northern Hemisphere have been going on since 91.
However, this year the average summer temperature in the Asian part of Russia was the highest. Temperature records in 2023 were also broken by North Africa and Canada. Vilfand added that in general, last summer was the third for the Russian Federation in terms of high temperatures, giving way to the summers of 2016 and 2021.
According to the meteorologist, the El Niño event in the second half of the year will lead to an increase in the temperature in the world. Now Roshydromet is preparing a forecast for the heating period from October to March this year.
