Russian writer Nina Katerly was searched because of her granddaughter’s play
The 88-year-old writer Nina Katerli was searched because of her granddaughter Zhenya Berkovich’s performance Finist the Bright Falcon. The writer told reporters about this.
According to Caterli, the UK staff came to her on May 4. They said that they were going to conduct a search because of the performance that Berkovich staged in Moscow.
“The granddaughter was prosecuted for justifying terrorism. I don’t know what the search in my house has to do with the performance in Moscow,” Caterly said.
She added that her granddaughter rarely visits her, the last time they saw each other two weeks ago.
The play Berkovich was staged based on the play by Svetlana Petriychuk “Finist – the Clear Falcon”. The plot revolves around women who decide to marry radical Islamists from Syria. In 2022, the play was awarded the Golden Mask Award for the best playwright and costume designer.
