The Russian Union of the Travel Industry called for a year to postpone the introduction of the “electronic voucher” system

The Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) sent to the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Vakhrukov appeal with a proposal to postpone the introduction of the “electronic ticket” system in the country for a year.
“Participants in the industry have repeatedly stated the presence of errors and shortcomings in the system, therefore, first of all, it must be brought into working condition when correct operation becomes possible in it,” said Ilya Umansky, President of the PCT.
According to the PCT, there are currently 300 tour operators registered in the official registry, which need time to test the data transfer mechanism. The organization’s appeal states that each tour operator will need at least three months for this from the moment the updated system functions correctly, so the PCT insists on postponing the introduction of liability.
The Ministry of Economy has not yet commented on the appeal of the PCT.
Formally, the “electronic voucher” system has been introduced in the Russian Federation since September 1, 2022 after seven years of its development. But in fact, the mechanism does not work yet: the responsibility for its non-use for tour operators in the field of outbound tourism was supposed to come on March 1, but the deadline was eventually shifted to September 1.
