A Petersburg court sentenced a man who stole a ZIL in the Krasnogvardeisky district to 2.5 years in prison in a strict regime penal colony. To commit the crime, the citizen first repaired the truck. It is reported by “Fontanka”.

For some time, a ZIL stood motionless along Vasnetsovsky Prospekt, which the attacker watched for a long time.

The press service of the prosecutor’s office reports that at the beginning of last winter, the defendant installed a battery on it, started the engine and left. Crossing to the Leningrad region, he sawed the truck into pieces and handed them over to scrap metal. The damage came out to 450 thousand rubles.

The man admitted his guilt, repented and compensated the owner of the ZIL for the damage. He was found guilty under Article 158 “Theft” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
