Priest Philip Ilyashenko, minister of the Church of St. Nicholas of Myra in Kuznetskaya Sloboda, in an interview with the publication “Moscow Region Today” called women to keep a child even if it was conceived as a result of rape.
He expressed the opinion that rape should not be the cause of new sin, including abortion, and noted the absolute helplessness of the fetus in the womb and its lack of chance of survival even compared to a newborn.
The priest emphasized that regardless of the method of conception, life should not be taken from a person.
In the absence of financial resources to raise a child, a woman can receive support from the state and church, Ilyashenko assured.
