The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs approved the procedure for the destruction of drones to protect the life, health and property of citizens, as well as a list of “authorized decision-makers” on the suppression of UAVs. It follows from the document that a drone can be shot down “by suppressing or converting its remote control signals, influencing control panels, damaging or destroying unmanned vehicles.” Those authorized to carry out these actions included representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, police officers, heads of security of internal organs’ facilities, officials whose activities are related to robotics and drones, and heads of units of the Joint Group of Forces for conducting counter-terrorism operations in the North Caucasus region.
They must assess the degree of danger and the consequences of destroying the drone. The official must transfer the decision to liquidate the UAV to the authorized person.
In August 2023, a law was signed that gives law enforcement agencies the right to suppress the movement of any unmanned aerial vehicles in their area of responsibility. They can stop drones not only in the air, but also in ground, underground, surface and underwater space.
