The Russian Foreign Ministry is outraged by the statement of the French Foreign Ministry on the creation of a “special tribunal”, the purpose of which is to investigate Russia’s actions in Ukraine. The corresponding statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published on the department’s official website.
“We are outraged by the statement of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs regarding plans to create some kind of “special tribunal for crimes of aggression by Russia.” In addition to trying to involve the International Criminal Court, Western countries decided to promote the idea of creating another overtly politicized “judicial” instance, which, in fact, has nothing to do with justice,” the message says.
The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the French Foreign Ministry of refusing to recognize the war crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and of hushing them up. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry recommended that France provide several experts who would study the crimes of the Kyiv regime and visit the places of shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Such a cabal will never have jurisdiction over Russia,” the statement said. Also in the Kremlin reportedthat such tribunals to investigate Russia’s actions in Ukraine would have no legitimacy.
On November 30, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, took the initiative to create an international anti-Russian tribunal for Ukraine under the auspices of the UN. She also suggested creating a structure to manage frozen Russian assets. According to her, the blocked funds of the Russian Central Bank and the assets of Russian businessmen confiscated due to sanctions should be combined into a fund, the funds of which should be invested, and the profit from these investments should be used for compensation payments to Ukraine.
After that, on December 1, it became known that France start work with Kyiv and European countries to create a tribunal against Russia.
