The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ambassador of Cyprus to Moscow, Kypros Yorgallis, because of the forceful detention in the republic of Rossiyskaya Gazeta correspondent Alexander Gasyuk, transmits TASS.
“The Cypriot ambassador has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry in connection with the forceful detention of Rossiyskaya Gazeta correspondent Gasyuk in Cyprus,” said a diplomatic source.
As the agency notes, the journalist was detained the day before, on October 5, in Nicosia; during the detention, his hand was injured; he is in hospital. The reasons for the detention are not stated.
