The Russian Foreign Ministry spoke about the response to the new package of EU sanctions

In response to the 11th package of EU sanctions, Russia has expanded the list of representatives of European institutions and countries – members of the Union, who are prohibited from entering the country. About it told at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We consider such actions of the EU illegitimate, undermining the international legal prerogatives of the UN Security Council. <…> We confirm that any unfriendly actions by Western countries will continue to receive a timely and adequate response,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Representatives of law enforcement, state and commercial organizations of the EU, which participate in military assistance to Ukraine and raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were banned from entering Russia. Restrictive measures have also been introduced against European officials who are responsible for sanctions against Russia, and EU parliamentarians who “advance a confrontational agenda.”

Earlier on June 23, the EU officially introduced the 11th package of sanctions against Russia. The new package consists of restrictions against 87 organizations allegedly supporting the military-industrial complex of Russia, as well as against 100 individuals – among them the military, journalists, businessmen, etc. Some media were banned. The sanctions include a ban on oil transportation via the northern branch of the Druzhba pipeline (to Poland and Germany), the entry of any tankers from Russia to European ports, and other restrictive measures.

After the approval of the package, EU High Representative Josep Borrell, whose words were quoted by the press service of the European Council, said that the new package would increase pressure on the Russian economy. At that time, the Kremlin did not comment on the introduced package and offered to wait for its official publication.
