The crew of the fishing vessel Volopas, which includes two Russians, has been held in the port of Maputo in Mozambique for eight months. As RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the sailors actually became hostages of a financial and property dispute between the ship-owner and the agent company.
Diplomats clarified that efforts are now being made to repatriate Russians. The necessary documents have been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, contacts have been established with the port administration, the National Migration Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. With the help of diplomats, the supply of technical water on the ship was replenished, and a gas stove was brought.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that the Russians receive salaries and have the opportunity to go ashore, there are no complaints about health, the ship is in satisfactory condition.
Earlier, the Shot Telegram channel reported that the crew of the fishing vessel Volopas under the Cameroonian flag has been sitting without electricity and water for several months, eating once a day. At the same time, Russians cannot return home.
