Lavrov to meet with China’s special envoy for Ukraine on May 26

The Russian Foreign Ministry published a message indicating a confirmed date for consultations on the Ukrainian crisis, which will be held with the participation of the Chinese government’s special representative for the Eurasian region, Li Hui, from the Chinese side, as well as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Minister Mikhail Galuzin, from the Russian side. Earlier, the Chinese leadership came up with an initiative to peacefully resolve the crisis around Ukraine.

“On May 26, a meeting is scheduled between Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin and Special Representative of the Chinese Government for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. It also states that on the same day, Beijing’s special envoy will be received by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Earlier in Beijing, during the announcement of Li Hui’s visit to a number of countries as part of the implementation of China’s peacekeeping efforts, several states were named, with the leadership of which consultations will be conducted. Among them, China’s special envoy has already visited Ukraine, Poland and Germany. In addition to Moscow, only Paris is on the list of capitals where he has to hold scheduled meetings.
