During contacts with Israel, Palestine and Arab countries, Russia calls on the parties to the armed conflict to stop shelling. This was stated by the special representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Bogdanov.
“Moscow is in contact with all parties, including Arab countries. We call for an immediate ceasefire. <...> We call for the immediate start of the peace process on the basis of existing internationally recognized agreements,” the diplomat noted (quote according to TASS).
According to him, the escalation of the situation on October 7 is a “relapse” of the conflict that has been going on between Israel and Palestine for 75 years. According to Bogdanov, the reasons are that states did not comply with UN Security Council resolutions and did not enter into negotiations with each other.
According to ATOR, there are about 100 organized Russian tourists in Israel. The number of vacationers who went to the country without the help of tour operators is still unknown. There was no information about Russians injured in the shelling.
The terrorist group Hamas began firing rockets at Israel in the early morning of October 7. The IDF responded by announcing a military operation against Palestinian militants. As a result of the hostilities, according to official data, 22 Israelis were killed and 545 people were injured. 70 patients are in serious condition.
