Only people with “colonial logic” or those who are not versed in geopolitics can not take China’s proposals for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine seriously. About it wrote in her Telegram channel, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the statement of the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.

Earlier, Borrell, talking to reporters, said that Beijing’s peace plan is just “an attempt to wishful thinking,” and the only plan that can be called peaceful is the proposals of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to Zakharova, with this statement, Borrell expressed the position not of the EU, but of the United States, and Zelensky’s proposals are not a “plan”, but “an American manual for fomenting conflict in Europe.”

“Not to take seriously the proposals put forward on behalf of the fifth part of the population of the planet and the leading economy of the world, can only be a person who knows nothing about geopolitics or a person with colonial logic who does not respect those whom he considers “below himself”. Borrell is a happy exception, he is the image of both at the same time,” Zakharova believes.

Beijing February 24 introduced its plan to exit the Ukrainian conflict, which includes 12 points, including respect for the sovereignty of all countries, the cessation of hostilities, the start of peace negotiations, etc.

Zelenskiy said China’s proposal was more like “voicing thoughts” than a peace plan. He added that such an initiative is unrealizable without a clause on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. After that, Zelensky repeatedly stated his desire to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. On April 26, Zelensky held a telephone conversation with the Chinese leader, discussing the conflict in Ukraine and bilateral relations.

The Chinese President paid an official visit to Moscow from March 20 to 22. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the talks constructive and successful. Following the talks, the leaders of Russia and China signed a number of statements. In particular, a document was adopted on a plan for the development of key areas of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation until 2030.
