Former German President Gauck criticized Schroeder and Merkel for their attitude towards Russia

Former German President Joachim Gauck criticized ex-Chancellors of Germany Anngela Merkel and Gerhard Schroeder for their attitude towards the Russian Federation. This is reported by the newspaper Tagesspiegel.

Gauck believes that Schroeder subordinated the prestige of the FRG to his personal interests.

“I consider it unacceptable that Schroeder, as a former chancellor, subordinated and continues to subordinate his reputation and the prestige of Germany to his personal interests,” said the ex-Chancellor of Germany.

He also stressed that he respects Angela Merkel, however, according to him, she cannot do without criticism of Russia. Gauk recalled that Merkel called Nord Stream a private sector project.
