The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the calls of the West to Georgia to open a second front against Russia

Provocative calls are heard from Ukraine and certain Western countries for Georgia to open a “second front” against Russia in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Against this background, the need for regular contacts between Tbilisi, Sukhum and Tskhinvali is growing. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the director of the fourth department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Denis Gonchar.
According to him, in the current conditions, Moscow and its allies give priority to the development of an agreement on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia, as well as the delimitation and subsequent demarcation of the Georgian-South Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhaz state borders.
Gonchar also stated with regret that the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions from the EU, the OSCE and the UN decided not to restore the previous working rhythm of this format in 2022. Of the four rounds of negotiations, only one took place. The next one is scheduled for February 2023.
