According to information published on the official website of the Russian Football Union (RFU), the Russian national team will play a friendly match against the Cuban team in the city of Volgograd. The meeting will take place at the Volgograd Arena stadium on November 20 at 19:30 Moscow time.
This match will be the third home match for the Russian team after being suspended from international competitions in February 2022. Earlier, on March 26, the Russian team played a match with the Iraqi team in St. Petersburg (2:0), and on October 12 they played against the Cameroon team in Moscow (1:0).
The Cuban team is ranked 169th in the FIFA world rankings. They competed in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2023, where they finished 4th in a group with Guatemala, Guadeloupe and Canada.
In February 2022, FIFA and UEFA published a statement on the temporary suspension of Russian national teams and clubs from international competitions due to events in Ukraine. These sanctions have not yet been lifted, and FIFA and UEFA have confirmed that they will remain in place until the end of the JEA. During this time, the Russian team played 10 friendly matches.
