The Russian side asks Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as friends and allies, to refrain from harsh statements and rash steps. This statement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on Tuesday, September 19.
The department indicated that armed conflicts in the post-Soviet space are beneficial to the “collective West,” which pursues its own selfish goals that have nothing to do with the true interests of the countries of Central Asia.
Moscow insists on resolving all controversial issues within the framework of a bilateral intergovernmental commission organized by Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Earlier, the head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, spoke about documents found in the country, which reported that many territories belonging to Tajikistan belonged to Kyrgyzstan. He did not rule out that his country could present on the basis of these papers territorial claims to Tajikistan.
In response, official Dushanbe expressed alarm at Bishkek’s statement regarding the border areas. In this regard, the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan Erlan Abdyldaev was invited to the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
