Ankara supports Azerbaijan’s “operation” and believes that Karabakh is its territory. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the UN General Assembly. At the same time, the Turkish side hopes for a speedy achievement of a peace agreement.
“We hope that a comprehensive peace agreement will be signed by the two countries as quickly as possible and that all promises will be fulfilled and communication corridors will be opened. Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan. Any imposed status will never be acceptable. Everyone has the right to exist on Azerbaijani soil, including Armenians. This is the main goal. We are moving forward together with Azerbaijan under the motto that we are two countries, two nations, but one,” Erdogan said.
September 19 Azerbaijan began “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh for the “restoration of the constitutional order” of the republic. Yerevan called Baku’s actions “large-scale aggression.” Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov statedthat Moscow sees the possibility of entering into peaceful negotiations to resolve the escalation of the conflict. MEPs called The EU Council will consider imposing sanctions against the Azerbaijani authorities.
