Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Oleg Stepanov said that he would demand clarification from Canada regarding the invitation to parliament of ex-member of the SS Galicia division Yaroslav Hunka. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Ottawa.
“The embassy will send notes to the Canadian Foreign Ministry and the prime minister’s office with an attached letter addressed to US President Justin Trudeau and Prime Minister Mélanie Joly,” Stepanov said. According to him, he has no illusions, since the Prime Minister’s office is the personification of neoliberal “fascism.”
“We have no illusions,” Stepanov said. He added that Canada’s current Prime Minister is “the personification of ‘neoliberal’ fascism,” he said.
On September 24, it became known that US President Joe Biden called on Trudeau to apologize for Hunka’s presence, noting that parliamentarians could not have known about his “dark past.”
At the same time, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Anthony Rota, apologized for inviting Hunka to parliament.
