The Russian Embassy in the United States responded to accusations of having undeclared chemical weapons

The White House announced the destruction of all stockpiles of chemical weapons in the United States, but in its statement tried to “slander Russia at the same time” and accused the Russian side of allegedly having undeclared stockpiles of poisonous substances. The Russian Embassy in the United States denied the allegations – a statement from the diplomatic mission published in his Telegram channel.

“We paid attention to another Russophobic attack by the administration. While announcing the completion of the US chemical demilitarization program, the White House also tried to denigrate Russia. Accusations are again thrown at us: the Russian Federation allegedly possesses an undeclared stock of chemical warfare agents. Apparently, they proceed from the fact that in such a context, the clearly belated fulfillment by the United States of its international obligations will look worthy,” the embassy said in a statement.

The embassy suggested that the United States not play the “anti-Russian card”, but show in practice “commitment to the proclaimed good intentions.” The diplomatic mission recalled that Russia destroyed its arsenals in 2017, which was confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and asked not to politicize the activities of this organization.

The embassy also drew attention to the fact that the “pseudo-humanistic appeals of the United States” are broken by the fact that on July 7 the White House announced the decision to supply the Ukrainian side with cluster munitions. “The American authorities simply did not give a damn about the objections of human rights activists and all sane people who are concerned about the prospect of large-scale civilian casualties,” the diplomatic mission concluded.

On July 7, National Security Adviser to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan during a briefing informedthat the States will send cluster munitions to Ukraine. He acknowledged that the use of cluster munitions posed a threat to the lives of civilians, but, Sullivan said, Ukraine provided the United States with written assurances that the munitions would be used “with care” to avoid civilian casualties.
