The British Foreign Office summoned the Russian ambassador after the death of Alexei Navalny, but Russian diplomats stated that interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation is inadmissible, Kommersant writes.

The British Foreign Office reported that the country’s authorities “place the blame for the death of the oppositionist on the leadership of the Russian Federation.”

In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that London’s assessments are biased and divorced from reality. “In this regard, the Russian side emphasized the categorical unacceptability of British attempts to interfere in the purely internal affairs of our country,” the statement said.

“Insinuations” from the British are also noted, although all the circumstances of Navalny’s death are just being clarified. The Foreign Ministry also recalled that questions remain for London regarding the story of Navalny’s poisoning, which ended with the imposition of British sanctions against Moscow.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that statements by American authorities about the death of Alexei Navalny constituted interference in the internal affairs of Russia. He also noted that in this way Washington is trying to find a reason for new sanctions. The diplomat called Navalny’s death a tragedy and noted that what happened needs to be examined in detail, but the American authorities are eager to blame Russia. Antonov emphasized that the American “flow of bile” did not go unnoticed.

It was previously reported that Alexey Navalny, who was serving a sentence in a colony, felt unwell on Friday after a walk, lost consciousness and died. According to preliminary data from an RT source, the convict suffered a blood clot.
