The deputy commander of the 18th Army, Colonel Magomedali Magomedzhanov, died in a Sevastopol hospital, the Public Chamber of Dagestan and the head of the republic Sergei Melikov reported. He was wounded in the military operation zone.
“Last Wednesday, in a hospital in the city of Sevastopol, guard colonel, commander of the 61st separate Kirkenes Red Banner Marine Brigade of the Northern Fleet, a native of the village of Khlut, Rutul district of Dagestan, Magomedali Magomedzhanov, died from injuries received during the fighting. In the Northern Military District, he held the position of deputy commander of the 18th Army,” says a statement from the Public Chamber in Telegram. The Public Chamber expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
The funeral took place in the village of Khlut, Rutulsky district, the day before, on February 17, Mr. Melikov said in Telegram. They were attended by representatives of senior officers who studied with him, representatives of the regional parliament, government and public chamber, the head of the republic said.
According to Mr. Melikov, Mr. Magomedzhanov participated in four operations. Previously, he served as commander of the 77th separate brigade in the 177th separate marine regiment of the Red Banner Caspian Flotilla and “eradicated terrorism in the North Caucasus and Dagestan in those years.” He also performed combat missions in Syria.
