The press service of the Russian Embassy in Riga released statementin which she commented on the decision of the Latvian authorities to nationalize the cultural and business center “House of Moscow”.
The diplomatic mission said that on January 11, deputies of the Seimas of Latvia approved the law “On actions in relation to real estate that are necessary to prevent threats to state security,” which allowed the confiscation of a building in the center of Riga belonging to the Moscow City Property Department.
“We regard the decision of the Latvian national parliament as legal arbitrariness and, in fact, an act of state robbery, grossly violating the fundamental principles of international law that guarantee the inviolability of the property of other countries,” the statement says.
The Russian embassy has already notified the Latvian side of the inevitability of retaliatory measures.
