The Russian Embassy assessed the new UK sanctions

The latest batch of restrictions introduced by the British authorities under the pretext of fighting cybercrimes is puzzling. This comment was made by the Russian embassy in London on Thursday, September 7.
The diplomatic mission emphasized that we are talking about unilateral arbitrary restrictions on people based on unproven accusations of involvement in certain cybercrimes using ransomware viruses.
The Russian Embassy pointed out the obvious political motives in this decision and recalled that London has time and again refused proposals to establish a professional dialogue with Moscow on issues of combating cybercrime.
Previously London added to the sanctions lists 11 citizens of the Russian Federation, who allegedly belong to a “Russian cyber group that attacked hospitals and other objects” during the COVID-19 pandemic, and members of the group allegedly acted with the help of Trickbot/Conti ransomware.
This is not the first time that Great Britain has taken such steps against Russia, but Moscow does not leave them unanswered. In August, in response to London’s aggressive implementation of a hostile anti-Russian course, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the expansion blacklist of British subjectsincluding 54 more politicians and journalists.
