The Russian economy received an additional 300 billion rubles through the use of AI

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in 2021 will significantly affect the Russian economy, especially in the financial sector, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. According to him, the effect for the economy amounted to more than 300 billion rubles. He also spoke about the opening of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence under the government in early September.

“The most noticeable increase is observed in the financial sector — 69 billion rubles. and in the ICT sector (information and communication technologies.— ”b”) — 55 billion rubles. The total contribution to the GDP of Russian organizations using artificial intelligence technologies amounted to more than 22 trillion rubles. In the current conditions, it is necessary to strengthen the implementation of applied AI solutions in the real sector and accelerate the digital transformation of priority sectors of the economy,” said Mr. Chernyshenko during the Army-2022 forum (quote from TASS).

Commenting on the opening of the new center, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the project will become a platform for finding effective AI solutions in the areas of business, science and government. According to him, the center will expand the opportunities for participants in artificial intelligence development programs – research institutes, authorities, technology corporations and developers.

Dmitry Chernyshenko reported that the AI ​​implementation rate in certain sectors of the Russian economy reaches 20%. By 2024, it should be at least 50%. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, many large Russian companies have moved to the active implementation of projects using artificial intelligence technologies. More than 60% of the country’s organizations, Mr. Chernyshenko noted, need to increase funding for AI projects.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, many projects related to the development of AI faced a lack of funding due to the withdrawal of foreign investors. In April, the Russian government declaredthat by 2024, companies developing AI can receive state support in the amount of more than 17 billion rubles. Until February 24, it was planned to allocate 5 billion rubles for these measures. The main developer companies in Russia are Sberbank, MTS, Gazprom Neft, Yandex, VK and RDIF. At the end of July, the Russian government announced the allocation of 575 million rubles. for the advanced training program for specialists who are engaged in the development of artificial intelligence.
