The Russian Ambassador warned about the consequences of the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine

Britain’s plans to send more long-range systems to Ukraine will further escalate the conflict in Ukraine, Russian Ambassador to London Andrei Kelin said.

“It was also announced that some missile or artillery weapons with a longer range will be delivered. Here it is still unclear, we are trying to clarify what it is, what it is about, whether there are such weapons at all there,” the diplomat said, stressing that this is another step towards further escalation of the conflict.

According to Kelin, the kingdom also wants to maintain a leading position in equipping Ukraine with weapons, including an aviation component.

On January 26, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kingdom, Alex Chak, announced plans to deliver Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine at the end of March. Prior to this, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that London would provide Kyiv with 100 armored vehicles, including 50 Bulldog armored personnel carriers (APCs).

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky flew to the UK earlier today to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. He also met with Ukrainian servicemen who are currently undergoing training.

In January, the Kremlin said that the supply of tanks to Kyiv would not change the situation, but would “add problems” for Ukraine. Later, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the Leopard and Abrams tanks, which the West is going to transfer to Ukraine, will burn down in the same way as the rest of Western military equipment.
