Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said on Channel One that the Russian embassy receives many “provocative calls.” According to him, the calls contain threats and messages about “anti-Russian actions” near embassies and consulates general during the presidential elections.

“We know that anti-Russian actions are planned both near embassies and consulates general, and there will be an attempt to penetrate into the territory of our embassy and – not to disrupt it, it simply won’t work – but to complicate it, to ruin our mood,” Mr. Antonov said on the TV channel ( quote from TASS).

On March 14, the Moscow prosecutor’s office issued a warning ahead of the presidential elections in connection with publications on the Internet calling for simultaneous arrival at polling stations at 12:00 on March 17. Previously, comrades of opposition leader Alexei Navalny called for such actions. The supervisory authority regarded these actions as “uncoordinated mass public events.”

The Russian presidential elections will be held from March 15 to 17. The Central Election Commission registered four presidential candidates: Vladimir Putin (self-nominated), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Vladislav Davankov (New People).
