The US sanctions contradict previous White House statements that humanitarian products would not be subject to restrictions, said Russian Ambassador to the States Anatoly Antonov. His response to a reporter’s question published in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“There is nothing really new in multi-page press releases. Except, perhaps, direct contradictions. For example, certain types of medical and agricultural equipment are included in the list of goods blocked for deliveries to Russia. This devalues ​​the numerous statements by the White House that humanitarian products are not subject to restrictions,” he said.

According to Antonov, Washington’s goal is to scare business and the public away from Russia by claiming that the country is under a “cap of restrictions”, although the Russian Federation has already proved its ability to cope with them. The ambassador also added that the United States is trying to put pressure not only on Russia, but also on developing countries. “Obviously, emerging economies will see how damaging the policies of the United States are doing to their vital interests and turn their backs on Washington,” Antonov concluded.

The US also imposed a ban on the export of more than 1,200 items of goods to Russia and Belarus. In response to the imposition of new sanctions, the Russian Foreign Ministry banned entry into the country for 500 US citizens on a permanent basis. Among the citizens who will be banned from entering Russia are former US President Barack Obama, as well as employees of think tanks who are involved in “spreading Russophobic attitudes and fakes,” as well as heads of military-industrial complex companies that supply weapons to Ukraine.
