Antonov: the Biden administration’s reaction demonstrates the effectiveness of the SVO
The US administration’s reaction to Russian strikes on Ukraine’s military infrastructure indicates the effectiveness of a special military operation, said Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Assistant Secretary General of the Organization for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Khaled Hiari, said that the massive attack of the Russian Aerospace Forces on Friday, December 29, was one of the largest since February 2022. US President Joe Biden, in connection with the massive Russian attack, called on Congress to allocate funds to Ukraine. According to him, if the US Congress does not take urgent action in the new year, Washington will not be able to continue sending weapons and air defense systems needed by Ukraine. Biden also said that Russia is allegedly threatening some NATO countries, which, in turn, increases the risks of US involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
“The American reaction to the strikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces testifies to the effectiveness of a special military operation,” Antonov noted, pointing out that Washington managed to unite almost 50 countries in supporting Ukraine. He also noted that their common goal is “the defeat of Moscow both on the battlefield and in the economic sphere.” At the same time, the ambassador noted that the effect is the opposite.
“Over the past year, Russia has concentrated, become more monolithic, and the effectiveness and combat readiness of the Armed Forces has sharply increased. Confirmation of this is today’s successful strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces on military targets of the Kyiv regime,” Antonov said.
Earlier, the US Senate could not agree on the issue of strengthening the security of the border with Mexico related to assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, American congressmen did not approve the request of the administration of US President Joe Biden for a new aid package for the Kyiv regime. For Republicans, securing the country’s southern borders as part of the fight against illegal migration is a key issue.
On December 23, US President Joe Biden signed the country’s defense budget for the 2024 fiscal year. Overall, American defense spending for the 2024 fiscal year is estimated at over $880 billion, which includes spending on programs of the Pentagon, State Department, intelligence and other departments. At the same time, only $800 million is provided for Ukraine.
