“Argentina has always maintained a principled position on non-supply of weapons and military equipment to conflict zones, including Ukraine,” the ambassador told reporters. He also added that the new government was given a signal about the importance of continuing this line.
Last December, the Internet portal Noticias Urbanas reported that the new Argentine government plans to transfer two Mi-171E transport helicopters, which were purchased from Russia, to Ukraine. The ambassador stressed that “Argentina does not comment on this information officially.” He also noted that Russian helicopters were used by the Argentine military in Antarctic operations and were highly praised for their reliability and quality. Currently, the helicopters are inoperative and require repairs, but this does not change the essence of the matter: Russia is categorically against handing them over to adversaries.
