The Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft plant, which is part of Rostec, has manufactured and handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense the second batch of Su-35S fighters in a year, the press service of the state corporation said. Combat aircraft will be used by the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of the Russian Federation.
“The 4++ generation fighters Su-35S passed a cycle of ground and flight tests in various operating modes and flew … to the place of duty,”— noted in a press release.
Rostec explained that the fighters were created and transferred to the Russian department as part of the state defense order within the time frame stipulated by the contracts.
The Su-35 multi-purpose super-maneuverable single-seat fighter is designed to engage air, ground (surface) enemy targets, infrastructure facilities covered by air defense systems and located at considerable distances from the base airfield, as well as to conduct aerial reconnaissance. The Su-35 is equipped with a unique airborne radar control system, an optical radar station, an onboard defense system, is capable of controlling group air operations, as well as using the latest guided aircraft missiles, and has the property of super-maneuverability.
