The SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to mutate. But the rate at which it changes is unpredictable. This was stated by virologist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Lukashev. The expert added that the quality of changes in this virus also cannot be predicted.

Lukashev agrees with his colleague. He added that the appearance of the omicron variant was a complete surprise for experts.
