The ruling party of Poland has already counted $ 1.32 trillion in damage from the German occupation

The damage inflicted by Nazi Germany on Poland during World War II amounts to 6.22 trillion Polish zlotys ($1.32 trillion), Jarosław Kaczynski, leader of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice Party, said on September 1. On September 1 (the date of the German attack on Poland in 1939), he presented a report to the commission of his fellow party members – members of the Sejm, with a calculation of this damage. According to Kaczynski, this is a conservative estimate, so the amount may increase.

“Poland will raise the question of Germany’s compensation for this damage in the international arena,” the Polish politician said. He did not specify how this would be done. The cost of damage, according to Law and Justice, is growing – in 2019, its representatives called the amount of $ 820 billion.

Back in 1954, Poland and the USSR documented renounced additional reparations from the GDR, after the reunification of Germany, this refusal was also officially confirmed by the German and Polish sides, the last time in 2004. But the right-wing conservative party “Right and Justice, through the lips of its leaders, ministers and deputies of the Sejm, has repeatedly stated its desire to collect reparations from Germany for the damage caused during the Nazi occupation.
