Rosselkhoznadzor experts spoke about the causes of the mass death of roe deer in the Kurgan region. Bacteria that cause infectious diseases were found in the biomaterial of samples of a number of animals, which, coupled with a cold snap, a decrease in the availability and quality of food, could lead to their death. This is reported in the press service Rosselkhoznadzor.
The department notes that no pathogens of viral, bacterial and prion diseases, such as plague, rabies, smallpox and brucellosis, were detected in the samples of artiodactyls. Based on the results of studies of pathogens, no diseases dangerous to the population were identified.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the case of roe deer began in September of this year in the hunting farm of the Dalmatovsky district. In several regions of the Trans-Urals, animals were seen foaming at the mouth, bleeding from their eyes, and running in circles and convulsing. Officially fixed the death of 33 roe deer, more than 10 diseased individuals were shot by hunters. Specialists from the Rosselkhoznadzor went to the places where sick animals were found, samples of the biomaterial of the dead individuals were sent for research to the Chelyabinsk branch of the Federal Center for Animal Health and the laboratory of the All-Russian Research Institute for Animal Welfare in Vladimir.
