The richest Russians are slowing down the domestic economy: the poor are ruining the middle class

The incomes of the poor will increase due to the “zeroing” of the wallets of the middle class

Inequality between rich and poor Russian families is decreasing. According to Rosstat, the earnings of the country’s wealthiest citizens in percentage terms have decreased by an order of magnitude compared to the incomes of our compatriots with the lowest salaries. According to financial analyst, candidate of economic sciences Mikhail Belyaev, this trend will continue: by attracting cheap labor, domestic employers will expand the number of low-skilled services, thereby washing out the middle class from among potential workers, aimed at organizing in the country not only the sales trade sector, where imported goods can be resold, but also its own export hub, focused specifically on Russian products.

According to the “Selective Observation of Population Income and Participation in Social Programs” published by the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), in 2022 the incomes of the wealthiest citizens of our state were 9.1 times higher than the earnings of our compatriots with the lowest incomes. A year earlier, the difference between these indicators was an order of magnitude higher: now, according to the information agency, the richest Russian families earn on average more than 100 thousand rubles a month, and the incomes of the poor barely exceed the 11 thousand rubles mark.

— One would always like to regard positive statistics as achievements of the success of existing financial regulation, but in reality, such supposedly successful indicators do not always create an advantage and turn out to be attractive nuances for both the financial authorities of the state and the workers themselves. Let’s be honest: 10% of the owners of large global companies receive at least half of the income of their own holdings, and I do not always focus on investment investments. In Russia, this trend is especially pronounced. Therefore, a mechanism of state regulation is required,

— Rosstat statistics are published every month (or even week)… Why was an additional regulatory mechanism required only now?

“An explosive situation has created: a noticeable gap has been reached between the incomes of the poorest and richest segments of the population. The main consumer demand comes from the poor – food, clothing, and so on. For the sake of these consumers, all the “gears” of the domestic economic program work.

– Excuse me, but government subsidies for the poor are growing?

– Certainly. Some categories of the poor are being provided with more and more government subsidies, but at the same time the middle class of the population is being “washed out” – people with higher education who are ready to support the development of both industrial and household sectors. Manufacturing companies interested solely in increasing sales volumes will focus not on improving staff qualifications, but on growing their workforce.

— Will the quality of goods suffer?

— Not only the quality of goods, but also the quality of services offered. The ratio between the richest and poorest segments of the population can be measured as much as you like: let the incomes of the richest, according to Rosstat, already be equal to the incomes of the poorest: such comparisons do not reflect the real situation: the rich will deny themselves an evening bottle of French wine, and people who save on every loaf, you will only have to rely on the financial calculations of the state – if “the richest also cry,” then the “poorest” can be patient.
