The visit of the delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will lead to a reduction in tension, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Wednesday in an interview with the TV company CNN.
According to him, it may soon be possible for the IAEA to visit the Zporozhye NPP in Ukraine. “We believe that the visit will stop tensions for a while,” the spokesman for the Turkish leader stressed, adding that no one, including Russia, wants a nuclear catastrophe. Kalyn also called on international organizations to ensure the safety of the nuclear power plant.
Earlier, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya noted that the Russian Federation hopes that the visit of the IAEA delegation to the ZNPP will take place in late August or early September.
Zaporozhye NPP, located in Energodar, came under the control of Russian troops. The Russian Defense Ministry clarified that over the past few days, Ukrainian forces have carried out several attacks on the territory of the station, using, for example, drones, heavy artillery, as well as multiple launch rocket systems.
