The report of the government in the State Duma will be held on March 23

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin at the beginning of the plenary session behind closed doors said that the government’s report in the lower house would be on March 23. One of the deputies told Vedomosti about this. The same date was announced by the deputy Denis Parfenov in his Telegram channel. According to the interlocutor of Vedomosti, during the report, videoconferencing is planned with all legislative assemblies of the regions.

“During this and the previous week, within the framework of the committees, we carried out a lot of work to prepare for the government’s report. During the current week, we had meetings of factions with the Prime Minister. Today is the final meeting at the New People faction, Volodin said at the plenary session (quote from the State Duma press service).

On Thursday, the State Duma passes the report of the Accounts Chamber for 2022, which is presented by the acting chairman of the department, Galina Izotova. Volodin said that as a result, the preparatory work for the government’s report is being completed. According to him, he discussed the date of the report with the prime minister “literally before the start of the plenary session.”

“And, if you support, it is proposed to appoint a government report for March 23. We will devote the whole day to the government’s report, the plenary session will be with one question,” Volodin said.

The United Russia and LDPR factions were the first to meet with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on March 13, and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and Just Russia on March 15. And on Thursday, representatives of the New People faction meet with Mishustin.

During the preparation of the government’s report, State Duma committees met with members of the government. Meetings were held with Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexei Chekunkov, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, Ecology Alexander Kozlov, Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of Construction Irek Fayzullin, Transport Vitaly Savelyev, and Science Valery Falkov, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry Denis Manturov.

According to Art. 114 of the Constitution, the government annually submits to the State Duma a report on its activities, including on issues raised by deputies. This will be the fourth report in the State Duma that Mishustin will present after his appointment in January 2020 as Prime Minister. And this is the penultimate report of the current government. Following the presidential elections in March 2024 and the presidential inauguration in May, the composition of the government will be adjusted.
