The Arkhangelsk Region Team Table Tennis Cup was held at the Nord Arena Sports Development Center. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Sports.
16 men’s and 16 women’s teams from Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Novodvinsk, Kotlas, Koryazhma, Mirny, Plesetsk, Nyandoma, Velsky and Ustyansky districts, as well as the Pinega region took part in the competition.
– For athletes, the Regional Cup is one of the most important tournaments of the year. Victories here count towards the athletes’ qualifications for the title of Candidate Master of Sports. Also, the results of the Cup are taken into account when forming the national team of the Arkhangelsk region, and the winners and prize-winners of the tournament get the opportunity to compete in competitions outside the region. Therefore, the Cup always has a large number of participants and there is always a very stubborn struggle for prizes,” said Lyudmila Varakina, executive secretary of the Arkhangelsk Region Table Tennis Federation.
The Arkhangelsk teams “Rodina-1” and “Lev” met in the final of the men’s competition. The Rodina-1 tennis players won the games with a score of 3:0.
Among the women, the Cup in the final was played by the first and second teams of the Rodina club. The athletes from the Rodina-1 team won the games with a score of 3:1.
