The governing body of the rebels in Niger, known as the National Council for the Salvation of the Motherland (NCSR), said that one of the countries is planning an act of aggression against the republic. This information was spread by Al Arabiya TV channel.
The NSSR statement emphasizes that an unnamed foreign state is actively preparing to attack Niger. However, specific details about the aggressor country were not specified. The rebels also signaled that they were ready for a possible international military operation.
In addition, the NSSR emphasized its steadfastness in advancing its goals, even despite the expiration of the ultimatum granted by the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS).
At the July 30 ECOWAS summit in Abuja, members of the organization condemned the coup in Niger and gave the rebels a one-week deadline to restore constitutional rule, and warned of possible action, including the use of force, if this demand is not met.
